Lynn's Comments: This was written after both my mom and dad had passed away. I wanted to chronicle a typical family situation—something our family had just lived through.

Lynn's Comments: My daughter bit the corner of a chest of drawers when she was little, and the tooth marks are still there. She’s almost 50!

Lynn's Comments: My dad was a jeweller. For my 15th birthday, he gave me a black diamond ring and said these exact words. So much of what went on in the comic strip was taken from my life past and present. I denied that Elly Patterson was me…but there certainly were similarities!

Lynn's Comments: My mother was a real stoic. She went through some incredible surgeries and long recoveries, but I never heard her complain. She considered it all an adventure. She was an amazing woman.

Lynn's Comments: This was true. Both my brother and I were living in Ontario, and, in order to see our parents through this difficult time, we had to take turns flying out to Vancouver. This was difficult for everyone. We had to take time off work or take work with us. Our parents didn’t want to be a “burden.”
